AMM 230 - Automatic Transmissions

This course covers classroom theory of automatic transmissions/transaxles. This class is structured to provide the student with the background and knowledge to pass the A-2 ASE certification examinations.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 200, AMM 201, AMM 210, AMM 211.
Corequisite(s): AMM 231.
Course Outcomes:

Determine transmission/transaxle fluid requirements.
Describe CVT operation.
Describe hybrid powertrain operation.
Determine which customer concerns are transmission related.
Diagnose concerns using power flow principles.
Diagnose pressure concerns using pascalâ€™s law.
Diagnose axle bearing wear patterns.
