AMM 221 - Automotive Manual Transmission Lab Credits: 5 LAB hours per week: 10 This course covers classroom theory and complete repair and rebuilding process of manual transmissions/transaxles, transfer cases, differentials and axles. This class is structured to provide the student with the background and knowledge to pass the A-3 ASE certification examination. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 200 , AMM 201 , AMM 210 , and AMM 211 . Corequisite(s): AMM 220 . Course Outcomes:
- Replace a clutch on an engine assembly.
- Determine the serviceability of a clutch assembly.
- Describe the procedure to bleed a hydraulic clutch system.
- Determine the fluid level in a manual transmission.
- Perform a manual transmission oil change.
- Disassemble a manual transmission.
- Reassemble a manual transmission.
- Replace a FWD drive axle.
- Determine the serviceability of u-joints and the drive shaft.
- Perform a visual inspection of a differential for leaks.
- Determine the serviceability of differential fluid.
- Determine the serviceability of a ring and pinion gear set.
- Perform e RWD axle and bearing replacement.
- Perform manual transmission linkage adjustments.
