AMM 221 - Automotive Manual Transmission Lab

This course covers classroom theory and complete repair and rebuilding process of manual transmissions/transaxles, transfer cases, differentials and axles. This class is structured to provide the student with the background and knowledge to pass the A-3 ASE certification examination.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 200, AMM 201, AMM 210, and AMM 211.
Corequisite(s): AMM 220.
Course Outcomes:

Replace a clutch on an engine assembly.
Determine the serviceability of a clutch assembly.
Describe the procedure to bleed a hydraulic clutch system.
Determine the fluid level in a manual transmission.
Perform a manual transmission oil change.
Disassemble a manual transmission.
Reassemble a manual transmission.
Replace a FWD drive axle.
Determine the serviceability of u-joints and the drive shaft.
Perform a visual inspection of a differential for leaks.
Determine the serviceability of differential fluid.
Determine the serviceability of a ring and pinion gear set.
Perform e RWD axle and bearing replacement.
Perform manual transmission linkage adjustments.
