AMM 220 - Automotive Manual Transmission Credits: 2.5 LEC hours per week: 2.500 This course covers classroom theory and complete repair and rebuilding process of manual transmissions/transaxles, transfer cases, differentials and axles. This class is structured to provide the student with the background and knowledge to pass the A-3 ASE certification examination. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 200 , AMM 201 , AMM 210 , and AMM 211 . Corequisite(s): AMM 221 . Course Outcomes:
- Describe dual mass flywheel operation.
- Use electronic manuals to locate specific vehicle repair information.
- Describe the basic operation of an electronically controlled manual transmission.
- Diagnose basic transmission concerns.
- Diagnose front and rear differential concerns.
- Diagnose axle bearing wear patterns.
