AMM 270 - Passenger Comfort Systems

Introduction to Climate Control and Comfort systems. The student will learn air conditioning terminology, system safety, refrigeration principles, operation of the refrigeration systems. Students will learn the proper use of specialized tool and equipment. The student will become familiar with all major components of a typical climate control system. This class is structured to provide the student with the background and knowledge for the A-7 ASE certification examination.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 240  and AMM 241 .
Corequisite(s): AMM 271 .

  • Identify types of air-conditioning systems
  • Identify the components in an air-conditioning system
  • Determine the serviceability of an air-conditioning system
  • Explain how to replace a heater core
  • Describe common HVAC control system concerns
  • Explain how to replace an evaporator
  • List the proper refrigerant handling guidelines
