PSYC 250 - Psychosocial Issues In Healthcare IV Credits: 1 LEC hours per week: 1 Examines some determinants of health and illness including social, psychological, environmental, spiritual, and cultural dimensions across the lifespan and within the context of healthcare. This is a continuation of content from PSYC 150 and PSYC 151 . Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Nursing Program; Grade C or better in PSYC 150 and PSYC 151 . Corequisite(s): NURS 200 and NURS 210 . Course Outcomes:
- Compare and contrast the psychosocial indicators of mental health and mental illness.
- Identify the legal and ethical issues related to the treatment of mental health disorders.
- Explain how the fields of psychobiology and neurobiology relate to mental health and mental illness.
- Discuss common treatment modalities used for clients with mental health disorders.
- Identify the phases of psychological crisis development and methods of effective crisis intervention.
- Compare and contrast the behaviors associated with substance abuse and eating disorders.
