PHIL 242 - Ethics and Policy In Healthcare V

Explores values, ethics, and legal decision-making frameworks and policies used to support the well-being of people and groups within the context of the healthcare professions. This is a continuation of content from PHIL 140 , PHIL 142 , PHIL 240 , and PHIL 241 . Student may not receive credit for both PHIL 242 and NURS 242.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Describe the healthcare provider’s role in influencing public policy.
  2. Specify strategies to stay informed of current legislative and public policy issues related to healthcare.
  3. Evaluate the ethical implications of current healthcare related legislation.
  4. Explore the topic “Social Determinants of Health” presented by Healthy People 2030 and discuss the influence of income, race, ethnicity and social class on health.
