AMM 111 - Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair II Lab Credits: 10 LAB hours per week: 20 Provides students with the basics of automotive maintenance including the identification of vehicle systems and basic repairs. Topics include: Electricity, Suspension and Steering, Passenger Comfort and Engine Performance. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 101 and AMM 100 . Corequisite(s): AMM 110 Course Outcomes:
- Identify electrical/electronic system components and configuration.
- Use wiring diagrams to determine the location of suitable test points.
- Use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, ohms and amperage.
- Use a test light to determine the condition of fuses.
- Diagnose components, connectors, terminals and wiring.
- Repair components, connectors, terminals and wiring.
- Use jumper cables to start a vehicle.
- Apply procedures to remove, clean, and replace a battery.
- Diagnose Parasitic Draw.
- Test the Starter Control Circuit.
- Test the Charging System.
- Diagnose Incorrect Driver Information Systems.
- Test for Module Communication with a Scan Tool.
- Describe Module Programming Procedures.
- Diagnose Body Electrical System Concerns.
- Diagnose Security System Concerns.
