AMM 111 - Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair II Lab


Credits: 10
LAB hours per week: 20
Provides students with the basics of automotive maintenance including the identification of vehicle systems and basic repairs. Topics include: Electricity, Suspension and Steering, Passenger Comfort and Engine Performance.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 101  and AMM 100 .
Corequisite(s): AMM 110  
Course Outcomes:
  • Identify electrical/electronic system components and configuration.
  • Use wiring diagrams to determine the location of suitable test points.
  • Use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, ohms and amperage.
  • Use a test light to determine the condition of fuses.
  • Diagnose components, connectors, terminals and wiring.
  • Repair components, connectors, terminals and wiring.
  • Use jumper cables to start a vehicle.
  • Apply procedures to remove, clean, and replace a battery.
  • Diagnose Parasitic Draw.
  • Test the Starter Control Circuit.
  • Test the Charging System.
  • Diagnose Incorrect Driver Information Systems.
  • Test for Module Communication with a Scan Tool.
  • Describe Module Programming Procedures.
  • Diagnose Body Electrical System Concerns.
  • Diagnose Security System Concerns.
