AMM 110 - Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair II Lecture

Provides students with the basics of automotive maintenance including the identification of vehicle systems and basic repairs. Topics include: Electricity, Suspension and Steering, Passenger Comfort and Engine Performance.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 101  and AMM 100 .
Corequisite(s): AMM 111  
Course Outcomes:
  • Explain the procedures involved in inspecting vehicle light bulbs and their connections.
  • Identify relays in diagrams.
  • Locate relays on the vehicle.
  • Describe safe battery service procedures.
  • Identify automotive wiring connections and terminal types.
  • Identify the types of front and rear suspensions.
  • Identify the components of front and rear suspension systems.
  • Explain the procedures involved in inspecting suspension components.
  • Identify components of the rack & pinion and recirculating ball gearboxes.
  • Explain the procedures involved in inspecting steering systems.
  • Identify power steering system types.
  • Explain the procedures involved in inspecting the heating and air conditioning system.
  • Describe the process of retrieving diagnostic trouble codes.
  • List the steps necessary to retrieve vehicle PIDs.
  • Analyze vehicle parameter data to identify abnormal values.
