AMM 110 - Automotive Maintenance & Light Repair II Lecture Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Provides students with the basics of automotive maintenance including the identification of vehicle systems and basic repairs. Topics include: Electricity, Suspension and Steering, Passenger Comfort and Engine Performance. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 101 and AMM 100 . Corequisite(s): AMM 111 Course Outcomes:
- Explain the procedures involved in inspecting vehicle light bulbs and their connections.
- Identify relays in diagrams.
- Locate relays on the vehicle.
- Describe safe battery service procedures.
- Identify automotive wiring connections and terminal types.
- Identify the types of front and rear suspensions.
- Identify the components of front and rear suspension systems.
- Explain the procedures involved in inspecting suspension components.
- Identify components of the rack & pinion and recirculating ball gearboxes.
- Explain the procedures involved in inspecting steering systems.
- Identify power steering system types.
- Explain the procedures involved in inspecting the heating and air conditioning system.
- Describe the process of retrieving diagnostic trouble codes.
- List the steps necessary to retrieve vehicle PIDs.
- Analyze vehicle parameter data to identify abnormal values.
