ENGL& 102 - English Composition II Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Focuses on the unique process of writing an academic research paper that addresses the concerns of a research community. Formerly: ENG 102. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in ENGL& 101 . Course Outcomes:
- Identify, access, and review needed information using appropriate media and technology tools.
- Evaluate different evidence-based perspectives in the formulation and analysis of a problem or question.
- Formulate insightful, logical thesis statements on a topic in response to collected information.
- Support a position with appropriate and compelling evidence.
- Construct coherent, organized, written compositions appropriate to a written audience.
- Apply the basic mechanics of language (syntax, grammar, punctuation, and spelling) effectively.
- Employ techniques to improve writing style in voice, wording, sentence construction, and figures of speech.
- Compose substantive research projects that both analyze the chosen topic and demonstrate more than elementary knowledge of that topic.
- Apply documentation format, such as page formatting, in-text citations, and bibliography, appropriate to the content and genre of various writing projects.
