EST 240 - Introduction to Basic Electronics

Introduction to solid-state theory and basic electronic components. Students will study solid-state theory, operation, and testing of solid-state components and devices to include diodes, thermistors, transducers, photocells, transistor, SCR, Diac, Triac, SS relays, photoelectric and proximity controls.
Prerequisite(s): EST 131 , or grade of C or higher in EST 132 , or instructor permission.

  • Identify electronic components visually and as symbols
  • Identify electronic devices
  • Demonstrate the ability to test SS devices
  • Program a programmable thermostat
  • Discuss operation of programmable controller
