EST 240 - Introduction to Basic Electronics Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 4 LAB hours per week: 2 Introduction to solid-state theory and basic electronic components. Students will study solid-state theory, operation, and testing of solid-state components and devices to include diodes, thermistors, transducers, photocells, transistor, SCR, Diac, Triac, SS relays, photoelectric and proximity controls. Prerequisite(s): EST 131 , or grade of C or higher in EST 132 , or instructor permission. Course Outcomes:
- Explain Solid State Theory
- Identify electronic components visually and as symbols
- Identify electronic devices
- Demonstrate the ability to test SS devices
- Program a programmable thermostat
- Discuss operation of programmable controller
