PSYC& 180 - Human Sexuality Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Study of sexual facts, attitudes, morals, and behavior. Examination of how society impacts our sexual values and behavior, as well as exploration of diverse experiences of others. Course will cover basic biology, as well as a focus on psychosocial issues related to and impacting sexual behaviors. Course for adults – lectures and films may contain explicit language, nudity, and graphic material. Course taken prior to fall 2010 also accepted for diversity requirement. Formerly: PSYC 113. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate placement score or grade of C or higher in ENGL 097 . Student cannot obtain credit for both GWST 180 and PSYC& 180 Recommended: READ 088 or higher. Course Outcomes:
- Define and explain psychological and physiological terminology related to human sexuality.
- Appraise the value and validity of research and historical perspectives in human sexuality.
- Explain the factors related to individual differences in expressions of human sexuality.
- Examine healthy interpersonal dynamics and decision-making related to human sexuality.
- Compare expectations and norms about human sexuality from diverse cultural perspectives.
