Business Management - Accounting Concentration, BAS

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Management - Accounting Concentration prepares students for careers in finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, management, or further academic study. Students will gain expertise in financial analysis, ethical business practices and the application of professional judgement to complex financial transactions. Successful students will be prepared to enter the accounting workforce. Courses in the BAS concentration could count towards eligibility to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Interested individuals should confirm eligibility with the Washington State Board of Accountancy.

Degree Outcomes:

  1. Explain and demonstrate effective business communication strategies. 
  2. Recommend and discuss strategic objectives relating to business and accounting situations. 
  3. Apply critical thinking skills when making decisions within a financial context. 
  4. Integrate sound business ethics principles.
  5. Adapt to emerging AI advancements and integrate them into accounting practices.
  6. Formulate and defend financial strategies that create value for investors or stakeholders.
  7. Develop and evaluate organizational structures, including departments of accounting, finance, human resources, operations, and marketing, in order to foster continuous improvement, innovation, and quality results within an organization. 
  8. Analyze legal issues for risk and oversight within a business environment. 
  9. Interpret financial models to improve business decisions related to management oversight and risk mitigation. 
  10. Apply Time Value of Money concepts to the valuation of assets and liabilities.
  11. Explain the pros and cons of financing a business entity with debt as opposed to owners’ equity.
