John Deere Technology, AAS

This technical degree is a two-year mechanics program designed to upgrade the technical competence and professional level of the incoming dealer technician. The degree involves classroom lecture and laboratory experiences with John Deere products on the campus and a unique paid work experience for students at a John Deere sponsoring dealership.

Degree Outcomes:

1. Use Service Advisor electronic parts and technical manuals.
2. Perform basic engine diagnostic procedure and tune up.
3. Diagnose electrical problems.
4. Diagnose and safely repair air conditioning systems.
5. Repair and adjust John Deere fuel systems.
6. Rebuild John Deere gas and diesel engines.
7. Make proper ballasting adjustments to a tractor depending on type of implement and field.
8. Repair various hydraulic components by using a technical manual.
9. Disassemble, assemble, and test all types of John Deere agricultural power train components.
10. Build, repair, and diagnose circuits in each application.
11. Troubleshoot row crop planters, grain drill planters, and monitoring systems.
12. Adjust various types of harvesting equipment for maximum productivity.
13. Repair various hydraulic controlled transmissions, hydraulic valves, and controllers.

Transferability: The AAS Degree is designed for students planning to enter their chosen career upon graduation. Often only selected credits are considered transferable to public or private baccalaureate institutions.
