Animal Science - Pre-Veterinary, AAS-T

This Associate of Applied Science Transfer degree provides the agriculture and animal science courses and general education courses needed to transfer to the Washington State University’s (WSU) Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences Pre-Veterinary program. The college has signed an articulation agreement with WSU to support this articulated degree transfer pathway.

Degree Outcomes:

  1. Recognize and discuss the management procedures within specific production schemes for each species of farm animals (as studied in this program).
  2. Develop a working knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology (those animals studied in this program) . Use this knowledge to help in diagnosing certain physical ailments and common health problems of farm animals.
  3. Develop a working knowledge of animal nutrition and health as it relates to animal feeds and ration requirements for common farm animals (cattle, sheep, hogs, horses).
  4. Identify the basic principles of animal development for the production of meat products for human consumption, to include food safety, nutritive value, inspection, and grading.
  5. Develop a basic understanding of the factors involved in the marketing of farm animals for profit.

Transferability: This limited transfer applied degree provides the science and general education courses appropriate for the student who is planning a future transfer to a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences Pre-Veterinary degree program at Washington State University.
