CS 265 - Introduction to Networking Credits: 5 Provides an in-depth description of the IP network-addressing scheme, including sub-netting, and the design of IP addressing schemes for enterprise-wide networks. Wiring techniques are also covered. This course will prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ Certification. Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the IP (Internet Protocol) addressing scheme.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the sub-netting concept.
- Calculate the IP addressing schemes for different network configurations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and the ARP cache.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Routing.
- Install and test network jacks in dry wall.
- Build, install and test patch cables.
Course Topics:
- In-depth description of the IP network addressing scheme, including sub-netting and the design of the IP addressing schemes for enterprise wide networks
- Wiring techniques, hub connections and cabling
