CS 265 - Introduction to Networking


Credits: 5
Provides an in-depth description of the IP network-addressing scheme, including sub-netting, and the design of IP addressing schemes for enterprise-wide networks. Wiring techniques are also covered. This course will prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ Certification.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the IP (Internet Protocol) addressing scheme.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the sub-netting concept.
  3. Calculate the IP addressing schemes for different network configurations.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and the ARP cache.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of Routing.
  6. Install and test network jacks in dry wall.
  7. Build, install and test patch cables.

  1. In-depth description of the IP network addressing scheme, including sub-netting and the design of the IP addressing schemes for enterprise wide networks
  2. Wiring techniques, hub connections and cabling
