DRMA 153 - Beginning Acting III


Credits: 3
For advanced beginners. Continuing scene study and monologue work, further exploring acting with an emphasis on physical and vocal technique; especially Shakespeare and other heightened texts. Students will complete the course with public performance of a monologue and scene at quarter’s end.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Demonstrate greater creativity in outward verbal and non-verbal expression to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
  2. Exhibit less self-consciousness and greater self-confidence in live performance tasks.
  3. Demonstrate a mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret textual material for performance.
  5. Demonstrate improvement in controlling personal tendencies/habits while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
  6. Analyze and discuss the performances of others in objective ways.
  7. Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
