DRMA 152 - Beginning Acting II


Credits: 3
Introduction to script analysis, scene study, and audition/monologue preparation with further exploration of acting including physical, vocal technique, theatrical makeup application, improvisation, and culminating with a public performance of a monologue and scene at the end of the quarter.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Demonstrate greater creativity in outward verbal and non-verbal expression to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
  2. Exhibit less self-consciousness and greater self-confidence in live performance tasks.
  3. Demonstrate a mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret textual material for performance.
  5. Demonstrate improvement in controlling personal tendencies/habits while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
  6. Analyze and discuss the performances of others in objective ways.
  7. Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
