NAIL 121 - Principles and Procedures of Nail Technology II


Credits: 1-11
Advanced instruction of nail technology. Topics: cleaning/disinfecting, sterilization, scientific concepts, manicuring, pedicuring, advanced technology of nail enhancement services. Emphasis on safety and cleaning/disinfecting measures in all instruction.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Identify elements of a client consultation
  2. Identify function and effects of tools
    • Nail equipment (e.g., table, lamp, electric file, pedicure basin)
    • Nail implements (e.g., nail clippers, cuticle pusher)
    • Nail supplies, products, and materials (e.g., cotton, lotion, towels)
  3. Identify mechanics of massage movements
    • Effleurage
    • Petrissage
    • Friction
    • Tapotement
  4. Describe Nail tip application process
  5. Describe Acrylic nail application process
  6. Explain the purpose of light-cured gels

  3. Nail service preparation
  4. Manicure and pedicure services
  5. Purpose and procedures for add-on services
  6. Application, maintenance, and removal procedures for nail enhancement services
