SPAN& 122 - Spanish II


Credits: 5
Introductory course for students wishing to learn Spanish as a second language. Provides a foundation for practical interpersonal communications. Topics include pronunciation, basic grammar, reading, writing, and an introduction to Hispanic culture.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Compose expository presentations in Spanish.
  2. Exchange information both orally and in writing.
  3. Conjugate verbs in the preterit tense, including stem changing and irregular verbs, for varying subjects in written and oral Spanish.
  4. Conjugate verbs in the imperfect tense, including irregular verbs, for varying subjects in written and oral Spanish.
  5. Identify direct and indirect objects in a sentence, and replace with the proper pronoun.
  6. Form commands in Spanish.
  7. Explain the diversity of cultural influences both in student’s own culture and those of Spanish-speaking countries.
  8. Explain the origins of Spanish words and cultural values and ideas.
  9. Use technology for learning and communicating in Spanish.
  10. Initiate and develop empathetic and productive interactions with people from other cultures, especially Spanish-speaking cultures.
