SPAN& 121 - Spanish I


Credits: 5
Introductory course for students wishing to learn Spanish as a second language. Provides a foundation for practical interpersonal communications. Topics include pronunciation, basic grammar, reading, writing, and an introduction to Hispanic culture.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Exchange information both orally and in writing.
  2. Distinguish and demonstrate appropriate forms of address.
  3. Use technology for learning and communicating in Spanish.
  4. Explain the origins of Spanish words and cultural values and ideas.
  5. Apply noun adjective agreement within Spanish sentences as it pertains to gender and number.
  6. Conjugation: verbs correctly in the present tense, including stem-changing and irregular verbs, for varying subjects in written and oral Spanish.
  7. Explain the diversity of cultural influences both in student’s own culture and those of Spanish-speaking countries.
