MEDA 192 - Medical Assisting Seminar


Credits: 2
This weekly seminar allows students to reflect upon and share about the experiential activities of the clinical setting as well as discuss any legal or ethical issues encountered. Students ask questions and receive input from the instructor. Resume writing and job interviewing skills are introduced. Additionally, students receive guidance and preparation for participation in post-graduation certification examinations.
Course Outcomes:
 
  1. Reflect upon the application of cognitive knowledge developed in the Medical Assisting program.
  2. Reflect upon the demonstration of psychomotor skills learned during the Medical Assisting program in the office or clinical setting.
  3. Evaluate what affective behaviors are appropriate to the professional healthcare provider and how ty demonstrate these.
  4. Assess their ability to perform the role and duties of a Medical Assistant to seek continued improvement.
  5. Explain the procedure for participation in the Certified Medical Assistant credentialing process endorsed by Washington State.
  6. Model job-seeking skills.
