Learn to identify electrical materials and their applications. Students will classify, grade, and use fasteners, such as bolts, screws, and rivets. Proper torque values are explained. Provides training in electrical raceway types, tools, and procedures used in the electrical industry. Gain a working knowledge of appropriate tools and procedures in bending and installing various types of raceways in compliance with the NEC® and electrical safety. Formerly: EST 108.
Prerequisite(s): Grade C or higher in ESTE 110 or instructor permission
Course Outcomes:

Define and apply trade terminology and components.
Explain the functional use of metallic and, non-metallic boxes and raceways.
Correctly classify the types of fasteners used in the electrical industry.
Correctly identify various types and sizes of electrical service equipment.
Demonstrate the safe operation of electrical pipe benders.
Demonstrate proper threading procedures on Rigid Metal Conduit.
Demonstrate proper bending procedures of various types of electrical raceways.
Reference installation requirements per the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Discuss the benefits and permitted locations of various types of raceways.
Use NEC Article 430 to reference motors, conductors and controls.
Determine branch and load circuits, over current protection, and wire sizing using National Electric Code standards.
Select conductor sizes using insulation ratings by application and National Electric Code® standards.
Assemble a fused disconnect and select correct fuse for the load using National Electric Code standards.
