ESTE 110 - Introduction to the National Electrical Code Credits: 2 LEC hours per week: 2 Course introduces student to the National Electrical Code (NEC), and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and Revised Code of Washington (RCW) as it relates to the electrical industry to familiarize students with legal code and electrical safety. May be taken as a preparation of industry technicians preparing to take the certification exam. Formerly: EST 260. Course Outcomes:
- Access online information regarding electrical news, application, permits, test information and pending changes.
- Check contractor, journeyman and trainee status online.
- Recognize and match code definitions.
- Locate codes to answer accurately questions relative to pertinent area(s) of work.
- Validate correct Washington State RCW and WAC requirements pertinent to area(s) of work.
- Perform Basic Electrical Calculations.
- Determine branch and load circuits, over current protection, and wire sizing using National Electric Code® standards.
- Select conductors for a branch circuit using the national Electric Code® standards.
