BARB 131 - Principles and Procedures of Barbering III


Credits: 1-10
LEC hours per week: 10
Continued learning of advanced aspects of barbering. Topics include bacteriology, sanitation, sterilization, draping, anatomy, shampooing, scissor cuts, razor cuts, clipper cuts, facial shaving, beard and mustache design, hair styling, hair structure, artificial hair, and safety.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in BARB 121 .
Course Outcomes:
  • Categorize safety and sanitation measures for protection of the client and barber for each service rendered.
  • Explain each available salon service.
  • Compare and contrast uses of implements required in barbering.
  • Design a variety of haircuts/hairstyles.
  • Justify a customer service plan for client scenarios.
  • Assess the interpersonal and communication skills with Barbering customers and Peers.
  • Choose the Washington State Barbering regulations and laws for client scenarios.
