AGSY 494 - Capstone Project Design Credits: 1-6 LAB hours per week: 12 Using various methods of inquiry and application, students will develop, plan, and facilitate their senior project, which will synthesize acquired knowledge and experiences in a cooperative real-life scenario. Projects will be designed to explore a student-identified agricultural system challenge or question. A project proposal will be developed and will include sound justification for the project, approach, and will clearly convey the student’s authority as well as competency related to the completion of the project. Students may, with prior approval, work in teams. Projects will be further evaluated, completed and presented in AGSY 495 . Formerly: SAS 494. Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate subject-matter authority and personal competency in written work.
- Use research skills to identify potential agricultural system challenges or questions for project inquiry.
- Compose proposals for potential collaborators.
- Evaluate project proposal in coordinator with collaborator(s) in order to refine it.
- Create evaluation tools for self-evaluation and collaborator’s evaluation.
Course Topics:
- Project research, selection and development.
- Project proposal development, collaborative refinement and acceptance.
- Justification and evaluation of project, self, and current agricultural system.
- Research and identify potential agricultural system challenges or questions for project inquiry.
- Begin the implementation of approved project.
- Develop and submit a comprehensive proposal to potential collaborator(s).
