ANSC 112 - Feeds and Feeding

Addresses common feeding practices and nutrient characteristics of animal feeds. Formerly: AGPR 112.
Course Outcomes:
  • Recognize the major nutrients and the role each of the nutrients plays in animal nutrition.
  • Describe basic functions of digestion systems for monogastric and ruminant animals.
  • Analyze various types of livestock feed.
  • Predict the relative levels of nutrients that common feeds contain.
  • Analyze required nutrients for livestock.
  • Employ knowledge of balancing rations for different species including multiple methods and nutrients.
  • Assemble comprehensive feeding strategies for profitable livestock enterprise management.
