BUS 262 - User Experience (UX)

This course provides a hands-on introduction to the User Experience (UX) development process. Students will conduct interviews and observations and evaluate systems through the lens of good design. Students will practice the process by applying it to a real-world micro-research project. This will include: developing a strategy to address an inherently ill-defined problem, practicing problem definition, and    presenting findings and possible solutions to community members. Equivalent course to CS 252 ; student may not earn credit for both BUS 262 and CS 252 . Formerly: EMRK 252.
Course Outcomes:
  • Discuss the purpose of UX research.
  • Apply a user-centered design process to develop better products and systems.
  • Compare and contrast UX design.
  • Understand how UX designers take an idea from a concept to a working prototype.
  • Develop personas.
  • Implement problem-definition to develop measurement standards.
  • Conduct a micro-research project.
  • Demonstrate integrative community engagement by conducting interviews and presenting research findings to community members.
