DRMA 153 - Beginning Acting III

For advanced beginners. Continuing scene study and monologue work, further exploring acting with an emphasis on physical and vocal technique; especially Shakespeare and other heightened texts. Students will complete the course with public performance of a monologue and scene at quarter’s end. Formerly: THEA 153.
Prerequisite(s): DRMA 152  
Course Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate greater creativity in outward verbal and non-verbal expression to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
  • Exhibit less self-consciousness and greater self-confidence in live performance tasks.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret textual material for performance.
  • Demonstrate improvement in controlling personal tendencies/habits while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
  • Analyze and discuss the performances of others in objective ways.
  • Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
