EDUC& 202 - Intro to Education

Explores units on teaching as a profession, as well as the history and philosophy of education. Formerly: ED 110.
Course Outcomes:
  • Identify the history of education and its influence on teaching and schools today
  • Identify the meaning and relevance of philosophy and its importance to education
  • Identify the impact of diversity on education
  • Identify effective instruction and management practices
  • Identify curricular issues and influences
  • Identify the role of local, state, and federal government in the governing and funding of public education
  • Identify the teacher as a professional
  • Identify the ethical responsibilities of teaching
  • Develop a beginning professional e-portfolio which contains a resume, personal philosophy, letter of professional introduction, classroom observation, and final written project
