EDUC& 202 - Intro to Education Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Explores units on teaching as a profession, as well as the history and philosophy of education. Formerly: ED 110. Course Outcomes:
- Identify the history of education and its influence on teaching and schools today
- Identify the meaning and relevance of philosophy and its importance to education
- Identify the impact of diversity on education
- Identify effective instruction and management practices
- Identify curricular issues and influences
- Identify the role of local, state, and federal government in the governing and funding of public education
- Identify the teacher as a professional
- Identify the ethical responsibilities of teaching
- Develop a beginning professional e-portfolio which contains a resume, personal philosophy, letter of professional introduction, classroom observation, and final written project
