ENGL 251 - Voices of Women In Literature Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Surveys selected women writers across time and cultures. Time period covered ranges from the 18th to the 21st century. Formerly: LIT 251. Course Outcomes:
- Interpret literature and evaluate the readings for authorial style, intent, theme, and characterization.
- Define and employ appropriate literary terminology.
- Evaluate the role of women in literature (both as authors and characters) and compare how those roles have shifted over time and across cultures.
- Appraise the ways in which a writer’s insight can be relevant culturally and personally.
- Compose unified, coherent responses to the literature which appropriately cite from the text under consideration.
