ENGL 144 - Introduction to Film Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Examines selected films with emphasis on the variety of film types, techniques, and developing technology. Formerly: LIT 144. Course Outcomes:
- Categorize films into genres, eras, and interpret those films to derive themes and meaning.
- Analyze and explain the typical process of film construction and completion.
- Recognize and discuss major advances and breakthroughs in film techniques and technologies.
- Apply terms and concepts associated with film criticism and production, such as mise-en-scene, point of view, and narrative to films from a variety of genres.
- Analyze, interpret, and critique selected film classics as technical, commercial, and artistic projects.
