ENGL& 112 - Intro to Fiction

Examines short fiction from the 19th century to the present, drawn from a variety of countries and cultures. Formerly: LIT 141.
Course Outcomes:

Interpret literature and evaluate the readings for authorial style, intent, theme, and characterization.
Differentiate among the basic elements that comprise the art of fictional narratives.
Assess the elements that bear the burden of a story’s meaning.
Employ appropriate literary terminology.
Appraise the ways in which a writer’s insight can be relevant culturally and personally.
Compose unified, coherent responses to the literature which appropriately cite from the text under consideration.
