EST 104 - Intro to Water, Engineering, Energy, and Ag Credits: 1 LEC hours per week: 0.600 LAB hours per week: 0.800 Provides undecided high school and adult students with basic labs in water, engineering, energy, and agriculture. Topics include water chemistry, fluid dynamics, digital multi-meter use, and the identification of crops of regional significance. Workplace safety, basic shop procedures, tool identification, and proper use of personal protective equipment will be covered. Intended Audience: Current high school student, CAP student, undecided college student, or interested community member. Course Outcomes:
- Define contemporary issues and concepts in water, engineering, energy, and agriculture.
- Describe and solve challenges involving water chemistry, fluid dynamics, process control, and soil management.
- Interpret a Piping and instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)’
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits correctly using a digital multi-meter (DMM).
- Identify and describe the management of crops of local economic importance.
- Describe water, engineering, energy, and agriculture related jobs and careers to build an understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce.
