EV 108 - Wine Industry Marketplace Credits: 2 LEC hours per week: 2 Provides insights and experiences necessary to become not only a successful job applicant, but an informed and knowledgeable wine industry participant. Introduce you to the wine industry value chain, major players, industry associations and resources, industry statistics and current events. We will investigate the employers’ perspective as well as strategic job seeking, networking, and interview tactics. Using this information, students will be able to match their personal and professional skills to opportunities in the industry, whether starting their own industry enterprise or seeking employment at an existing business. Course Outcomes:
- List the wine industry’s value chain and the various career possibilities.
- Describe the global and domestic wine industry and discuss current events in the industry.
- Illustrate the history of the wine industry and future trends.
- Recognize key players and industry associations.
- Identify resources available to industry employee/participants.
- Formulate and define a unique skill set that sets you apart in the industry and marketplace.
- Define key elements of the job-seeking process.

- Wine Industry Value Chain - where do you fit?
- Understanding the World of Wine as an employee and as an employer
- Current topics/events influencing the industry including, but not limited to, globalization, consolidation, alternate farming methods and wine economics.
- Washington state wine industry: key players and associations, future of the industry.
- “Marketing Me” - Selling your skills in a competitive environment
- Exploring International Work and internship opportunities
