HSC 091 - Senior Capstone Credits: 2.5 LEC hours per week: 2.500 Senior Capstone assists students enrolled in the Alternative Education Program or High School Completion Program in completing both the ‘High School and Beyond Plan’ and the ‘Culminating Project’, state-mandated high school graduation requirements. The course encourages students to think analytically, logically and creatively and to integrate experience and knowledge to solve problems, giving students a chance to explore a career or post-high school graduation plans in which they have a great interest, and offers student an opportunity to apply their learning in a ‘real world’ way. Course Outcomes:
- Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words by creating a final Culminating Project digital presentation.
- Present personal information, reflection of high school experience, career and post-secondary research findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
- Illustrate presentation content with strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentation.
- Research post-high school pathways (workforce options, post-secondary education, military, etc.); synthesize multiple sources on the subject and present findings throughout final Culminating Project presentation, demonstrating understanding of the research.
- Deliver a final presentation, in speach and in composition, demonstrating a command of formal English when indicated or appropriate.

- Demystifying the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

- College admission process and criteria.
- College and secondary institution research.
- Financial Plananing, scholarships, and how to afford college.
- Presentation technology (Prezi, Power Point, etc.)
- Navigating and using WWCC’s online course student interface (Canvas).
- College information systems (Degree Audit, degree and program guides, e-schedule, Transfer website, Student Portal, Financial Aid Portal).
- Educational planning.
