IRR 225 - Irrigation Controls Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 3 LAB hours per week: 4 This course will study the controls, installation, and troubleshooting of turf irrigation systems. Systems will include residential, commercial and sports field applications. A comprehensive analysis of the types of control systems used in these applications will be included. Installation and troubleshooting practices and procedures will also be included in the instruction. Students will then demonstrate these practices and procedures in field applications of installation and troubleshooting opportunities. Students will install and troubleshoot all irrigation system components, valves, sprinklers, system piping, controls and wiring. Formerly: WMGT 225 and WTM 225. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in IRR 110 or instructor permission. Course Outcomes:
- Program and operate control systems used in turf irrigation.
- Use industry standard procedures to install and maintain pipes, sprinkler heads, wiring, valves, controllers, and backflow systems.
- Evaluate pipes, sprinkler heads, wiring, valves, controllers, and backflow systems for updating and repair.
- Evaluate turf irrigation systems for proper operation.
- Diagnose system deficiencies (troubleshooting) and generate strategies to fix them.
