JD 262 - John Deere Advanced Diagnostics and Repair Credits: 14 LEC hours per week: 9 LAB hours per week: 10 Students will identify and test systems and devices on John Deere equipment. We will review principles, functions, and applications of electronic controlled engines, transmissions, hydraulic circuits, and basic air conditioning systems used in John Deere equipment. Students will use schematics, techniques of diagnostics with electronic circuit, fluid flow, electrical flow, systems testing, and John Deere Service ADVISOR. Students must score a minimum of 80 percent on the three John Deere Methods and Techniques certification assessments to be eligible for graduation from the JD Tech program. Course Outcomes:
- Describe electronic, hydraulic, engine, and air conditioning systems on John Deere equipment.
- Identify, locate, test, and diagnose various systems available on John Deere equipment.
- Demonstrate function of any electrical or hydraulics system with the aid of International Standards Organization, I.S.O., symbols used in related schematics.
- Repair air conditioning, transmission, engine, and power train systems as used on John Deere agricultural equipment.
- Utilize fault codes in diagnosing all John Deere equipment.
- Evaluate performance and calibrate various electronic controlled components within John Deere equipment.
- Apply the theory of operations on all systems on John Deere equipment.
- Communicate the complaint, the cause, and the action taken to correct the problem.
- Choose software application and technical equipment appropriate for task.
- Exhibit professionalism as listed in the “Guidelines for Success” policies.
