JD 105 - John Deere Hydraulics

The principles and application of fluid flow and hydraulic components are discussed. Testing and repair of low-pressure and high-pressure systems and control circuits are explained, demonstrated, and practiced. Offered to second year John Deere students only. Formerly: JD 205.
Course Outcomes:
  • Define the theory of operation of each hydraulic system used on John Deere equipment.
  • Diagnose hydraulic system problems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various hydraulic components by using a technical manual.
  • Measure performance in a hydraulic system using a flow meter and test gauges.
  • Interpret the symbols on an I.S.O. hydraulic diagram and locate the components on equipment.
  • Disassemble and repair a hydraulic component following tech manual instructions and specifications.
  • Communicate the complaint, the cause, and the action taken to correct the problem.
  • Use software applications and technical equipment appropriate to the task.
  • Exhibit professionalism as listed in “Guideline to Success” policies.
