JD 102 - Forklift Safety Training and Certification Credits: 1 LEC hours per week: 1 This course is designed to meet the new OSHA requirements for lift truck operator training and certification. Safe lifting/chaining and moving of loads will be demonstrated and discussed. Course Outcomes:
- Explain the regulations for motorized lift truck operation.
- Identify the various types of powered industrial trucks and counter-balanced forklifts.
- Identify the various parts of any given forklift.
- Assess the safety limits of various forklifts and configuration, including fulcrum point, center of gravity, load center, and stability.
- Describe the safe operation of a forklift from pre-use inspection to parking and shutting down.
- Identify power sources for various forklifts and explain procedures for safe handling.
- Complete industry certification in the safe operation of motorized lift trucks.
