MATH& 152 - Calculus II

MATH& 152 is the second in a sequence of four calculus courses for students who are planning to major in engineering, mathematics, or the sciences. Graphical analysis of concepts is emphasized through the use of technology. Formerly: MATH 125.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in MATH& 151, satisfactory placement, or permission of the Mathematics Department.
Course Outcomes:

Approximate definite integrals with left, right and midpoint Riemann sums and trapezoid and Simpson’s rules.
Interpret the definite integral in relation to the limit of Riemann sums, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, net change, and area under a curve.
Evaluate integrals using anti-derivatives of polynomial, rational, root, trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic, and inverse trigonometric functions as well as methods of integration including substitution, integration by parts, trigonometric substitution, and partial fraction decomposition.
Evaluate improper integrals or state that they diverge.
Construct models for contextual problems and apply calculus to solve them. Applications include finding average value, area, volumes, and arclength as well as computing displacement, mass, force, and work.
Access and use technology as needed.
Communicate mathematics using relevant vocabulary and notation.
