NA 027 - Nurse Delegation Credits: 0.7 LEC hours per week: 0.500 LAB hours per week: 0.400 Students who earn this certificate can perform specific RN delegated tasks with additional training in community healthcare settings (e.g. Assisted Living, Adult Family Homes, Homecare, and Private care). Certified Home Care Aides (HCAs), Nursing Assistants-Certified (NA-Cs), and Nursing Assistants-Registered (NA-Rs) are required to take this course before accepting delegated tasks in these settings. Without the Nurse Delegation certificate, there are certain instances when a family member, a friend or licensed nurse must be present to administer the medications in these settings. This course meets Washington State DSHS/ADSA requirements for training in Nurse Delegation. The course grade is determined by a combination of the grade on the final exam, attendance for t hours of class, and completion of Delegation Workbook exercises. A grade of 80% is required to receive a passing grade for the course. Students completing this course will receive a Certificate of Completion. Course Outcomes:
- Articulate medical terminology used in long-term care community-based settings.
- Employ Nurse Delegated skills used in the long-term care community-based settings.
- Explain the steps of the Nurse Delegation process and the roles of healthcare providers involved.
- Integrate reporting requirements for Nurse Delegation tasks as part of standard healthcare oral and written communications.
