TURF 122 - Turf Maintenance Practices

Students are introduced to the methods used in maintenance of sports fields, parks, school grounds, and golf courses. It prepares students for cooperative work experience and for entry into the turf industry.
Course Outcomes:
  • Apply turf maintenance practices for healthy turf.
  • Implement cultural practices critical to sports fields, such as proper soil sampling, field inspections, mowing practices and field preparation before and on game days.
  • Articulate cultural practices critical to sports fields, such as proper soil sampling, field inspections, mowing practices and field preparation before and on game days.
  • Use skills related to the maintenance of golf courses, such as selecting maintenance materials and equipment.
  • Create a stencil for use on a sports field or golf course.
  • Utilize the common tools used by turf managers.
