TURF 101 - Turf Equipment Operations I

Students will operate and maintain turf equipment, including mower units, top dressers, soil aerators, trimmers, sprayers and miscellaneous turf equipment. They will also develop a practical costing of equipment plan which emphasizes safety.
Course Outcomes:

Operate a variety of mower units, top dressers, aerifiers, trimmers, and turf equipment.
Apply maintenance procedures on a variety of turf equipment.
Use proper methods for blade sharpening and adjusting.
Use equipment lubrication procedures.
Develop an equipment inspection plan.
Calculate the area measurement (in appropriate units) of a given space.
Develop an equipment use costing plan.
Apply safety practices.
