An introduction to some of the English texts that launched the West’s rich literacy traditions, starting over 1000 years ago and covering up to the mid-20th century. Sampling essays, poems, historical texts, stories, memoirs, speeches, plays, and a novel, the course features a wide variety of works from authors representing the British Isles including England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.
