The Digital Design one-year certificate consists of 45 credits taken over 4 quarters. The program is intended for students who wish to gain the technological and creative skills necessary for employment and advancement in the technology and marketing fields as graphic designers or front-end web developers. Students will be prepared for work in web development teams, creative agencies or to operate their own business.  

Graphic Design Topics: Students will complete hands-on training in the predominant applications used by graphic designers, then learn the principles and elements of design.

Topics in Web Development: Students will learn the fundamentals of UX/UI alongside the process of site-building before learning how to code pages with HTML, CSS and Javascript to produce responsive websites.

This schedule lists all courses required for completion of the Digital Design Certificate, but the actual order and specific coursework may vary depending on student placement, start date, and quarter. Please check with your advisor prior to any substitutions.

Certificate Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the ability to critically and logically think and organize to solve computer science related problems and processes as they relate to entry-level digital design in industry. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of software and hardware related to entry-level digital design applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of ethical and privacy issues relating to the computer science field. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of customer service skills.
