Department Overview: The Wine Country Culinary Institute inspires people to understand food as a concept, as a system, as a chain of events, as a story of the people that created it, and as the definition of sustainability, rather than simply an ingredient or meal. The Wine Country Culinary Institute supports the economic growth and vitality of the hospitality industry by transforming students into professional culinarians and the Walla Walla Valley into a premier tourism destination.
Degrees: Students may earn an Associate in Applied Sciences Degree in Culinary Arts upon completion of the two-year program of study.
Industry Description: The food service and hospitality industry provides the largest segment of private employers in the country and offers varied career opportunities for those with a passion for cooking. The culinary arts segment of the industry provides opportunities for careers as a cook, chef, restaurant manager, food and beverage director, baker, pastry chef or caterer.
