Department Overview: Our nail technician course covers the 600 hours of nail care training required by Washington State for licensure. Nail students obtain a thorough knowledge of artificial nail application, removal, repair, manicuring, pedicuring, nail art, safety, and sanitation procedures. Students acquire practical experience on patrons who come regularly for their beauty services. To help achieve greater poise, self-assurance, and confidence, students are instructed by staff members in ethics, motivation, RCW, WACs, sales, salon business practices, and may participate in salon visits. Program Level Outcomes:

• To market, recruit, and retain students in the Nail program.
• Involve Nail industry professionals in curriculum development and learning outcomes.
• Provide instruction with current skills (techniques and styles) used in the nail technology profession in order to prepare students for employment.
• Certify the program using industry skill standards.
• Graduate students who demonstrate the knowledge and skills to obtain a nail tech license and succeed in the industry.
