CAP 005 - CAP Educational Interview


Credits: 1
Course for Career and Academic Preparation students in all competency levels. This 1-credit course includes orientation to student’s program, its resources and services; current student abilities, characteristics, learning styles, and readiness to learn; student’s personal, educational, and employment background and interests; student’s skill gaps, learning deficiencies, and difficulties; barrier identification with strategies, recommendations, and interventions for improvement; student’s long-term and short-term goals; identification of the skills needed to reach those goals; and a plan of action for the student to achieve the goals (personal learning/action plan).
Course Outcomes:
  1. Complete registration, state-mandated admission forms and CASAS assessments.
  2. Self-identify needs such as academic skill gaps and learning difficulties.
  3. Identify available resources at Walla Walla Community College.
  4. Obtain current ID cards and library cards.
  5. Demonstrate readiness to learn and persist through consistent attendance.
  6. Prepare a personal learning plan to address self-identified barriers to success.
  7. Create a completion plan and complete a minimum of weekly check-in with instructor to evaluate progress of the plan when appropriate.
