COLL 163 - Auto Body Refinishing


Credits: 1-21
Spray painting equipment and facilities, spraying techniques, surface preparation, undercoat materials and applications, spot painting and blending, complete painting and color theory, matching fundamentals and techniques will be covered.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Organize a work experience in the Collision Repair industry.
  2. Practice competency based work skills.
  3. Examine the importance of timely completion of work tasks.
  4. Employ interpersonal job related skills.
  5. Evaluate personal progress on NATEF task list.

  1. Safety and environmental practices.
  2. Understanding automotive finishes.
  3. Preparing the surface for refinishing.
  4. Preparing equipment, paint area, and refinish materials.
  5. Tinting and blending.
  6. Applying the finish.
  7. Solving paint application problems.
  8. Finish defects: causes and cures.
  9. Waterborne paint and application.
  10. Detailing.
