COSM 251 - Advanced Principles and Procedures I


Credits: 1-11
Advanced work in the cosmetology program. Topics include skin care - including disease & disorders, artificial hair, chemical relaxing, hair pressing, safety, superfluous hair removal, pH value - the basic chemistry, and complete review, including safety and sanitation.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Synthesize information and advanced Cosmetology techniques to recommend solutions to complex questions.
  2. Prioritize recommendations for a client scenario that considers multiple viewpoints and desired results.
  3. Develop a client service action plan using new styling techniques trending in the Cosmetology industry.
  4. Justify solutions to problems in a customer scenario.
  5. Explain nail diseases and disorders plus manicuring, and pedicuring techniques.
  6. Explain facial practices, i.e. skin structure and hair removal.
  7. Choose the Washington State Cosmetology regulations and laws for client scenarios.
